Avuncular Test
An Avuncular DNA test is performed to determine the statistical probability that a person is the
biological aunt or uncle of an alleged niece or nephew.
Why bother testing? The test can be used as a supplement to a Paternity test, or for personal
knowledge. In some cases, an Avuncular test can help prove Paternity or Maternity in the case of
missing parent if the alleged Aunt of Uncle is a full sibling of the missing parent.
When an avuncular test is conducted, results will determine the genetic profile of the alleged relatives
and then an avuncular index is determined. The higher percentage in the results, the more likely it is
that the tested individuals are biologically related.
Test includes the testing of one child and one alleged aunt or uncle. Additional relations testing may be
added if necessary.
